Gordon Ramsay shares his ultimate trick to cook perfect steak in air fryer

Gordon Ramsay shares his ultimate trick to cook perfect steak in air fryer

Gordon Ramsay has his own take on cooking with an airfryer

Personally, I'm obsessed with the weird and wonderful world of air fryers.

I'm not sure how we ever functioned without them.

At this point, we're pretty fluent in what to avoid when using our favourite kitchen gadget.

But in case you missed it - bacon is a big no no.

Foods that our air fryers love include breaded chicken, falafel, roast potatoes, and according to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay - steak.

Yes, you read that right.

According to the chef who has earned 17 Michelin stars throughout his career, you can cook a steak to absolute perfection in your air fryer.

This revelation might be more shocking than the fact Gordon even uses an air fryer when he's whipping something delicious up in his kitchen.

Gordon's 'little twist' of a recipe, which was shared with Phillips, is for coffee and chilli-rubbed rib-eye steak.

He begins: "Instead of using a grill, or a pan, we're cooking with air.

"With an air fryer, you're gonna get those delicious flavours locked in and keep all that juice inside that rib eye without the grease."

We're already sold.

The recipe

To make the rub, mix coffee, sugar and aleppo pepper to create a 'very powerful spice'.

Gordon says that 'the longer you put the rub on, the more flavour you'll get inside the steak'.

He also recommends seasoning the plate first to cover the bottom of the steak, then coat the top.

And make sure you go round the sides too.

Gordon says that if you can get that done 15-20 minutes in advance, then 'the difference in flavour is night and day'.

'Locks in and seals that flavour'

Now onto the trusty air fryer...

Preheat your airfryer to 390F - or 200C - for at least three minutes before you're due to whack your marinated steak in.

Then cook your steak for 8-10 minutes.

"Locks in and seals that flavour, but most importantly puts a lovely flavour on that ribeye".

He also recommends accompanying your meat with sides such as sautéed potatoes - using leftover boiled potatoes - and vegetables.

Well, we know what we're having for tea tonight.

And who knows - before long you'll be at the stage where you can cook an entire Christmas dinner in your air fryer.
