Fans hail ‘gritty’ crime drama with Fool Me Once star as first series lands on Netflix today

Netflix has just added a new crime drama and fans can't stop talking about it.

The Irish drama follows a fictional crime family in Dublin who are at odds with a powerful drug gang.

It even has a near perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes - a sure sign that it's going to be promising.

Created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly, the show has a pretty impressive cast, too, starring Game of Thrones' Aidan Gillen, as well as Clare Dunne, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Fool Me Once's Emmett J. Scanlan and Sam Keeley.

The intense RTÉ series, which first aired in 2021, has had two seasons so far.

Scanlan recently revealed his hopes for more seasons and told LADbible that a third season of Kin is 'very much alive'.

"I know that we had the production company and the production company fell apart and stuff like that," he said.

"So it's there for anybody to take, you know.

"I'd love it to be bought by somebody, the BBC, Netflix, anybody really, I'd just love to continue to tell the story and to finish it.

"So unfortunately, I don't have any, any solid views by that - that's not to say that the thing is, it's very much alive. And it's very much in people's consciousness and the more people that say, the more people that like it."

While the show has previously been available on BBC iPlayer, the first season has recently been added to Netflix, too, and people are loving it.

One wrote: "Damn Kin is stalking me, I forgot about it on BBC iplayer and now its coming to netflix."

While another said: "If you've not seen this Irish gangster show get on it on BBC iplayer. Gritty and some fantastic performances and story."

And a third added: "If you've not started watching Kin yet on BBC, you really need too. Probably the best series I've watched in years."

Meanwhile, a fourth tweeted: "#Kin was so good! If you haven’t seen it on BBC, watch it."

"Anyone who hasn't watched #Kin on BBC iPlayer should rectify this egregious error immediately," said a fifth.

"Violent, but gripping & - often - unbearably tense."

People are so happy about it, they're even sharing messages of 'Happy Kin Day'.

"Happy #Kin day Netflix fans!" One wrote.

Guess we know what we're binge-watching at the weekend.
