Fans Praise Olivia Rodrigo For Calling Out US Supreme Court In Glastonbury Performance

Fans have been praising Olivia Rodrigo after she called out the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe vs Wade during her Glastonbury performance.

During her performance at Glastonbury this weekend, Olivia was joined by Lily Allen on stage, where the pair performed one of Lily's tracks, 'F**k You'.

Before they began, Olivia explained: "This is my first Glastonbury, and I'm sharing the stage with Lily which is the biggest dream come true.

"But I'm also equally heartbroken over what happened in America yesterday. The Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe vs Wade which is a law that ensures a woman's right to a safe abortion.

"I'm devastated and terrified, so many women and girls are going to die because of this. I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have shown us at the end of the day that they truly don't give a sh*t about freedom."

Olivia then proceeded to read out the five names, before adding: "We hate you".

And fans are praising Olivia for her words, with one person writing on Twitter: "Olivia Rodrigo at Glastonbury name dropping the justices of the Supreme Court who voted to overturn Roe v Wade 'we hate you' and then singing f**k you by Lily Allen to them yea that’s my girl."

While another said: "Olivia Rodrigo calling out every member of the Supreme Court on Glastonbury stage and then proceeding to sing f**k you by Lily Allen. We have to Stan."

And a third added: "Olivia Rodrigo bringing out Lily Allen to sing 'F**k You' and dedicating it to the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v Wade is not what I expected from Glastonbury but I’m here for it."

On Friday (24 June), the Supreme Court overturned the 1973 legislation that granted women the right to abort up until foetal viability. This is usually around 24 weeks.

This means millions of people in the US will now lose the legal right to obtain an abortion.

Individual states will now be able to decide to ban the procedure, and at least 26 states are expected to ban abortion following the supreme court ruling.

Abortion access is expected to be reduced for around 36 million women of reproductive age, according to research from Planned Parenthood, a healthcare clinic which carries out medical terminations.
